Tell Your Story!

Do you live outside the United States?

Are you a U.S. citizen, or did you used to be one?

If so, SEAT invites you to tell your story.

SEAT is now conducting a new and comprehensive survey of current and former Americans who live outside the United States.

This is SEAT’s second survey. It follow SEAT’s first survey, conducted in 2020/21. (SEAT’s report on that survey can be consulted here).

The purpose of the survey is to learn more about how persons living outside the United States experience U.S. taxation and banking policies. The survey will enable SEAT to better educate policymakers in the United States and around the world, the media, and the public more generally about the experiences persons living outside the United States have with respect to such policies.

This comprehensive survey:

  • in part asks many of the same questions asked in the 2020/21 survey, in order to understand any evolution that may have occurred; and
  • in part asks new, more in-depth questions, in order to better understand certain aspects that have not yet been sufficiently explored.

All current and former U.S. citizens living outside the United States are strongly encouraged to participate. To be clear, our invitation includes BOTH:

  1. Current U.S. citizens (including those who identify as “Accidental Americans”) who live outside the United States; as well as
  2. Those who used to be U.S. citizens but who have renounced or relinquished their citizenship.

Participation in the survey is anonymous. The information collected will be treated with strictest confidence and no findings which could identify any individual participant will be published.

To participate in the survey, please click on the link below. Please share this link on social media platforms and encourage others who are eligible to also participate. Please also share the link with those who are not on social media.

The survey will be open for submissions until 19 August 2024. We expect to publish our findings by the end of the year.

In advance, thank you for your participation! And thank you for encouraging others to also paticipate!
