On 10 October 2024 former Presdient and current Presidentential candidate Donal Trump announced that he would “end double taxation on our overseas citizens.”
He continued: “You’ve been wanting this for years and nobody had listened to you and you deserve it. And I’m going to do it. It’s the right thing to do. And no American leader has ever been willing to stand up and commit to you the way that I have.”

SEAT appreciates President Trump bringing national attention to the problems caused by the double taxation faced by overseas Americans.
SEAT supports and thanks President Trump for his commitment to end the double taxation of Americans abroad. We believe that the best way to do this is to completely sever citizenship from tax residency.
SEAT is non-partisan. SEAT would equally support and welcome a similar commitment by Vice President Harris.
